My New Daily Cleaning Schedule and Wishing I Cleaned Like June Cleaver.

I have recently been having a tough time with organization. I have a lot of projects I take on and it has me somewhat overwhelmed. Some projects include making a small office for myself to dedicate more time to blogging. Other projects include making retro valances and re-decorating our living room, which I will be blogging about soon. There's also the upstairs to contend with. That's where the children reside. It's Summer vacation and the upstairs look's like the tornado from the Wizard of Oz, hit it. We aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto.

I work best as a housewife when I have a schedule. Over the years i've come to realize if I don't write it down then everything turns into a big mess, I get discouraged, and well..you may know how I feel. Can you relate?

Here is my newest Summer "daily" cleaning schedule. I am not the perfect housewife and we all need a boost to get organized.

A Must Do: Get dressed and put on my vintage apron. A housewife is not complete without her apron. Wink.

Daily Cleaning Schedule Monday through Saturday

Laundry - Done daily - at least two loads. It may be more or less depending on how many people you have in your home. There are 5 of us. All laundry must be dried and folded and put away. I absolutely hate it when I let the clean clothes pile up with the intention of getting to it but always get side tracked. When laundry is taken in or from the dryer it must be taken care of right then to avoid that "evil" clean pile of clothes.

Feed Animals - Daily of course. :)

Kitchen-
Pick up counters/put things in their place
Wipe Down All Surfaces - Including Fridge and Cupboards
Clean Microwave - In/Out
Load Dishwasher/Do Dishes
Empty & Change Trash Bag
Sweep & Mop

Dining Room/Living Room-

Pick up items (or box the items for others to put back in the right place)
Vacuum
Straighten Pillows
Quick Dusting with damp rag
Straighten Furniture

Bathroom -

Tidy up sink area/put things in place
Wipe down surfaces - Sink, Toilet
Make sure toilet paper roll is filled
Hang Clean Towel
Empty clothes hamper for washing
Empty Garbage can
Sweep or Vacuum

Master Bedroom -

Make Bed
Straighten top of bureaus (put away any loose clothing)
Vacuum
Empty clothes hamper for washing

------------------
Additional -

Wednesday - Trash pickup day

Saturday - Deep Cleaning

Kitchen - Clean out inside of refrigerator/wipe down
Bathroom - Clean Inside of Toilet(s) and Shower/Bathtub

Sunday - Rest, Blog

This is just a general list and I am sure to be adding to this as I go. Oh, how I wish I was June Cleaver with her perfect TV land home. It's always a work in progress. You know what they say, "A clean home is a happy home."

Thanks for Reading! Happy Housewifing!

  1. Hello! I too must have a cleaning schedule or everything falls by the wayside. I have incorporated some of Flylady's ideas into my daily routine and it is a life saver! Your schedule looks pretty similar to mine.

  2. Hello again! I'm glad i'm not the only one with this issue. I have joined the Flylady site and yes and it has been a big help. I like FlyLady's baby step number 1. "shining the kitchen sink" first. It's so discouraging when there is a pile of dishes. I think many people can relate. FIY.. I forgot to add Sunday afternoon ironing of the hubby's shirts for the upcoming week to my list. :)

  3. I definitely agree, Mrs. Jenn! A clean home is usually a happy home, and you can begin maintaining a clean home by doing one chore at a time. Good to know you have a way of looking forward to accomplishing your task, like wearing your vintage apron for a start. Haha! I hope cleaning your home will always be an enjoyable thing for you. Go on and keep channeling your inner June Cleaver! :-)
